Words and Music

An evening of music and poetry with

Neil Curry and David Ashworth

Tickets on the door:  £6 (£4 for under 18s)

The bar will be open from 7pm

Neil Curry has lived in the Lake District for many years.  Among his poetry collections are ‘Walking to Santiago’, ‘Ships in Bottles’ and ‘Other Rooms’.  Forthcoming are ‘The Fables of the World’ and ‘Some Letters Never Sent’. (

David Ashworth is a guitarist based in the Eden Valley in Cumbria.  His music draws its influence from the folk music traditions of Europe and America, and the more adventurous jazz and popular music of our time.  He uses simple electronic procedures to layer and complement the sounds of a ‘raw’ acoustic guitar. This helps produce music contrasting the elegant simplicity of an unadorned melody with the rich texture of densely complex improvisations.
