I’m pleased to relate that Eden Valley Digital and Great Asby Broadband Group joint project have collated and submitted a data set from the recent Connecting Cumbria survey of our Parish to Cumbria County Council (CCC) for their Rural Community Broadband Funding application to the Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) at the end of this month. This application is for an additional £1.4 million to serve a wide area of Cumbria including our Leith Lyvennet area via the Shap extension. This is welcome news.
- There was a good return from our Parish, considering the weather, of just over 40%
- Early indications suggest that the information is useful, will be weighed carefully and will help inform CCC’s decision making regarding the most suitable technological means of delivery
- Defra will decide whether to release this new funding
- I hope to hear and relay more news at the end of May or in June
The Connecting Cumbria team have thanked us for this assistance and have asked us to relay their thanks to you.
I would like to thank you too and offer thanks to all who have helped and are helping in this process.
