The Sun shone upon the celebratory burial of a time capsule at Crosby Ravensworth’s attractive new community housing estate Stoneworks Garth on Saturday October 27. The Lyvennet Community Trust Chair, David Graham welcomed the gathered residents and dignitaries including our MP, County, Eden District and Parish Councillors and summarised the history of the project, thanking all the people who had worked so hard to make the project successful and had assisted with financing, revealing the staggering number of individual email communications, letters and meetings involved in creating the project.
Our MP for Penrith and the Border, Rory Stewart praised and thanked everyone for their efforts and their efficacy when he spoke passionately about the progress and significance of the Community housing development before laying the time capsule, double wrapped in plastic to protect against damp.
He and David Graham shovelled earth over the capsule which contains an interesting mixture of contemporary material produced by residents including work by students of Crosby Ravensworth School. After burying the capsule, we made our way to The Butchers Arms Community Pub for a celebratory slap-up hot buffet and drinks.
It was a great event, with superb atmosphere and seeing the smiling faces of the new residents gathered for the group shot reinforced the importance of it all. God bless them all in their new lives, may they thrive and prosper!
There are still some homes and plots available, see Penrith Farmers & Kidds website for details
