On Thursday 10th March 2011 Caroline Spelman the Secretary of State, Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and James Paice Minister of State (Agriculture and Food), Environment, Food and Rural Affairs visited the Stoneworks housing site and the Butchers Arms as part of their whistle stop tour of the Eden Big Society Vanguard area. Our constituency MP, Rory Stewart invited them to Crosby Ravensworth and accompanied them on the visit.

Later in the day they launched Defra’s major new Uplands Policy Review, which includes a new Rural Community Broadband Fund worth up to £20m which will enable communities to deliver small scale broadband projects!

There are now about 130 shares pledged for the community pub – less than 40 to go and we could have our pub back in action!
