“Following up on the well-attended meeting of Parishes at Morland Village Hall on February 16th, that delivered a strong local mandate for community fast broadband, Leith-Lyvennet Broadband Group is pleased to announce that it submitted an Expression of Interest in a Local Community Broadband Pilot Project  to Mr. Mike Kiely of Broadband Development UK at the end of February. Copies were sent to Lorraine Smyth, Community Programmes and Performance Manager Cumbria County Council, and to Rory Stewart MP for Penrith and the Border.

A new Community Interest Company, Eden Valley Digital aims to advance an experimental pilot initiative within the Eden Big Society Vanguard Broadband Pilot Area to facilitate the process of establishing community broadband in rural communities in Eden. The proposed pilot area covered by distribution of the Leith-Lyvennet Church Newsletter is expected to benefit approximately 1000 homes and premises including the less accessible places in the area.”
